Simple checks
- The speaker icon at the bottom right: is the sound muted, what is the volume?
- Click the arrow next to the volume and choose the right output device: speakers, headphones or the TV.
- Speakers: are they plugged in, do they have their own volume knob?
- In a browser one tab can be muted — right-click the tab.
The sound went to the TV or monitor
After an HDMI connection Windows often switches the sound to the TV. You unplug the cable — and the sound “stays” there. Choose the laptop speakers in the list of output devices.
Headphones and Bluetooth
- Wired: push the plug all the way in, try another socket or device.
- Bluetooth headphones: remove them in Settings → Bluetooth & devices and pair again.
- If the headphones are connected to your phone, the laptop will not “see” them — disconnect them on the phone.
Drivers
If the device list is empty or says “no output devices found”, the sound driver is the problem. It should come from the laptop or motherboard maker’s website, not the first one you find.
What I do
I check the devices, drivers, Windows services and settings — the sound usually comes back in one visit. If the laptop’s own speakers do not work but headphones do, the part is replaced at a service centre. More: computer repair in Batumi.
FAQ
Questions and answers
The sound disappeared after a Windows update — what now?
Usually the update installed a different driver. The driver from the maker’s website or rolling the driver back helps.
The sound crackles — is it the speakers?
Check with headphones: if they are clean, it is the speakers. If headphones crackle too, it is the driver or settings.
How much is a call-out?
From 50 GEL in the daytime.
