Never send
- Passwords, SMS codes, access keys.
- Bank card numbers, CVV, online banking logins.
- Photos of passports, ID cards or driving licences with numbers.
- Client and staff data: phone numbers, addresses, medical details.
- Confidential company documents you have no right to share.
How to anonymise
Need help with a contract or a client’s email? Replace names, numbers and addresses with [Client], [Phone], [Address]. That is enough for ChatGPT to help, and nothing extra leaves your hands.
Privacy settings
- In the data controls there is a switch that lets your chats be used to improve the models. You can turn it off.
- For one-off questions use a temporary chat: it is not saved to your history.
- Memory can be viewed and cleared in the personalisation settings.
- Turn on two-factor authentication and do not reuse your email password.
Fakes and scams
- Clone apps with look-alike icons in the stores — check the developer.
- Messages like “free ChatGPT Plus — click here” are almost always account or card theft.
- Browser extensions “with ChatGPT” can read everything you open. Install only trusted ones.
For companies
If staff use ChatGPT, you need simple rules: what may be sent and what may not, and who controls access. I can help write those rules and train the team — AI for business. If data must never leave the office — local AI on your own computer.
