How to get better answers
- 1. “Ask me questions first”. Add at the end: “Before answering, ask me 3–5 clarifying questions”. ChatGPT works out what is missing — the answer fits you exactly.
- 2. Give it a role. “You are an experienced accountant in Georgia” or “you are an editor who cuts texts” changes the style and depth.
- 3. Show an example. Paste an old post or email: “write in the same style”. An example works better than any description.
- 4. Set the format. “Answer as a table”, “three bullet points”, “no more than 100 words”, “conclusion first, then details”.
- 5. Ask it to check itself. “Check your answer: where might you be wrong? What should I verify?” — it often finds its own weak spots.
- 6. Several options. “Give me 5 headlines in different tones” — choosing is easier than inventing.
- 7. “Explain like I am 12”. A complex topic becomes clear — then ask “now in more detail”.
Features people forget
- 8. Instructions about you. In the personalisation settings you can write once who you are and how to answer (“short, informal, no fluff”) — it applies to every chat.
- 9. Memory. ChatGPT can remember facts about you between conversations. You can see and delete what it remembers in the settings.
- 10. Projects. Group chats and files on one topic into a project — say, “Flat renovation” or “My shop” — and ChatGPT keeps the context.
- 11. Temporary chat. For one-off questions that should not be saved to history or memory.
- 12. Photos and screenshots. Snap an error on screen, a contract or a menu — and ask what it means.
- 13. Voice. In the app you can talk out loud — handy while driving, cooking or practising a language.
- 14. Files. Upload a PDF or spreadsheet: “find the key points”, “compare”, “draw conclusions”.
- 15. A new chat for a new topic. Long threads “confuse” ChatGPT — start a new chat when the topic changes.
What not to do
- Do not take numbers, laws, prices or links on trust — check them.
- Do not send passwords, card details or documents with personal numbers.
- Do not argue in circles — rephrase the task and give an example instead.

FAQ
Questions and answers
What is the single most useful tip?
“Before answering, ask me clarifying questions”. That alone noticeably improves almost any answer.
Where are the instructions and memory?
In ChatGPT’s settings, under personalisation. Menu names change from time to time, but the section is easy to find.
Does ChatGPT remember everything I write?
Only if memory is on, and only what it considers useful. You can view and delete it all; for one-off questions there is a temporary chat.
