An AI agent for Instagram: a helper that runs your profile with you
Running Instagram is not just pretty photos. You have to come up with topics, write captions, pick hashtags and answer questions — every day. I built myself an AI agent that takes over the rough work, and here is how to build the same for your profile.
What an AI agent is — in plain words
It is an ordinary AI chat that has been told once, in detail, who you are, who your profile is for and how you speak. After that you do not need to explain everything again: you type “a post about my new service” and get a draft in your style.
I build these agents in Claude, which has “Projects” — a folder that keeps permanent instructions and your files (price list, FAQ, your best posts). Everything you write inside the project is answered with those materials in mind.
What the agent can do
- A content plan for a week or a month: topics, formats (post, carousel, Reels, stories), publishing days.
- Captions in your voice: warm, businesslike, with humour — the way you write yourself.
- Reels ideas and scripts: what to film, what to say in the first 3 seconds, on-screen text.
- Hashtags and a profile bio for your niche and city.
- Reply drafts for common questions in comments and DMs — you check and send them yourself.
- Repurposing one post into several formats: carousel, stories, a Telegram text.
What the agent does not do (and that is right)
- It does not post by itself or reply to clients for you: Instagram is against automated bots, and clients want to talk to a person.
- It does not know your new prices and events until you tell it — keep the project files up to date.
- It can get facts wrong — check numbers, dates and promises.
How to build it in one evening: 5 steps
- Create a project in Claude (claude.ai → “Projects” → “New project”), for example “Instagram — my salon”.
- Write the project instruction — who you are, who your clients are, tone, rules (example below).
- Upload files: price list, answers to common questions, 5–10 of your best posts, a description of your services.
- Ask for a content plan for two weeks — and correct what you do not like: the agent remembers your edits within the conversation.
- Set a rhythm: once a week — the plan and captions for the week; every day — 10 minutes to publish.
An example project instruction
Copy it and replace the brackets with your own details:
“You are my Instagram assistant. I am [name], [what I do] in Batumi. My clients are [who they are, age, interests, languages]. Write warmly and to the point, without jargon and without promises I have not made. Captions — up to 120 words, a hook in the first line, a call to message me at the end. Language — English; Russian or Georgian on request. Take prices and services only from the “Price list” file. If you do not know an answer, say so. Suggest Reels ideas with the first 3 seconds and on-screen text.”Who it suits best
- Beauty artists, stylists, photographers — when there is lots of work and no energy left for social media.
- Bakers, florists, makers — new work every day, and each piece needs a caption.
- Experts, psychologists, teachers — when you need to post useful content regularly.
- Small shops and cafés — offers, new arrivals, answers to the same questions.
How I help
I build such an agent for your profile: we write the instruction together, gather the files, set up Claude on your phone and laptop, and I show you how to use it every day. We can also set up your profile and film your first videos — see “Start a blog”. An AI lesson is from 50 GEL.
