Which black screen do you have
- Completely black, but the lights are on and the fan is running. No picture is output: backlight, panel, video output, memory or BIOS.
- Black, but you can see the picture with a torch. The laptop screen backlight has failed.
- The maker’s logo appears, then black. A Windows boot problem — fixed without opening anything.
- Black screen with a cursor after login. Windows Explorer does not start: a failed update, a virus, a graphics driver.
What you can do yourself
- Press Win + Ctrl + Shift + B — Windows restarts the video driver.
- Connect an external monitor or TV via HDMI. If it shows a picture, the laptop works and the problem is the screen.
- Check the brightness: Fn + the sun key.
- Laptop: switch off, unplug the charger, hold the power button for 30 seconds, switch on.
- For a black screen with a cursor press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → “Run new task” → explorer.

I connect an external screen and a boot USB stick — within minutes it is clear whether the laptop is alive, whether the drive is fine and what is wrong. Software causes (bootloader, update, driver, virus) I fix on site, sometimes with a Windows reinstall that keeps your files.
