Realtor security: phone, accounts, client data
For a realtor the phone is the whole business: clients, listings, chats, documents. A hacked Instagram or a lost phone with passport photos means lost clients and reputation. A few settings close most of the risks.
Accounts
- Two-factor protection on Instagram, WhatsApp, Google and email — first of all.
- Different passwords, a password manager instead of a notebook.
- A two-step verification PIN in WhatsApp so the number can’t be hijacked.
- Don’t sign in to work accounts on other people’s phones and computers.
Client documents
- Don’t keep passport and extract photos in the general gallery or forward them without need.
- Keep them in a protected folder and delete them when the deal is closed.
- Don’t send documents to group chats or publish them even with data blurred.
Scammers
- Fake “owners” and “buyers” asking for a prepayment or an SMS code.
- Emails and messages “from the bank” or “from the agency” with links — check by phone.
- Never share SMS codes or install programs at a stranger’s request.
Personal safety at viewings
Viewings with strangers — arranged in advance, with the client’s clear name and phone. Tell someone close or a colleague where and when you are going; you can share your live location with a trusted contact for the time of the viewing.

FAQ
Questions and answers
My Instagram has been hacked — what now?
Recover access at once through Instagram’s official form and warn followers on other networks. Then turn on two-factor protection.
Do I need a separate work phone?
Not necessarily. Separate folders, protected accounts and a backup are enough.
