Before you start
- A Microsoft account (email and password) that Office will be linked to.
- A product key or an active Microsoft 365 subscription.
- Remove old Office versions — two versions side by side often conflict.
Installing
- If you have a key, go to the Office activation page on Microsoft’s site, sign in and enter the key once — the licence links to your account.
- Then open “Services & subscriptions” in your Microsoft account and click “Install”.
- Run the downloaded installer — it downloads and installs Office itself.
- Open Word and sign in with the same account — Office activates.
If something goes wrong
Install errors are usually caused by leftovers of an old version or an activator. The fix: remove Office completely with Microsoft’s official uninstall tool, restart and install again.
After installing
- Check in Word: File → Account shows the product as activated.
- Turn on AutoSave to OneDrive if you have Microsoft 365.
- Add the proofing languages you need: English, Georgian, Russian.
