If the name says “Free DOS”
There is no Windows on the laptop. I install official Windows (you buy the licence), drivers from the manufacturer’s site, updates and the programs you need.
What I set up after purchase
- Windows Pro (if Free DOS) and updates
- Drivers and Lenovo Vantage
- Work email, Office, shared folders, printers and scanners
- BitLocker disk encryption and backups
- Moving data and programs from the old work laptop
- Setup for an employee: account, access and remote support if needed
Technician’s tip
For an office, Windows Pro is the better choice: it has BitLocker disk encryption and joins work networks. You buy the licence — I will tell you which one.
FAQ
Questions and answers
What does “Free DOS” mean on a Lenovo ThinkPad?
It means there is no Windows on the laptop. That keeps the price lower, and the system is installed separately. I install official Windows — you buy the licence.
Can I install Windows on a Lenovo ThinkPad myself?
Yes, if you can make a bootable USB stick and find the drivers. If you would rather not spend an evening on it, I will come and do everything at once, with programs and file transfer.
Do you sell laptops?
No, I do not sell new laptops. I help you choose for your needs and budget, then set it up at your home or office.
